I'm using the Plus Pack (2013 version) for the first time. I took an Image from a Toshiba laptop and I need to restore it to a Lenovo T61 laptop. Half way through the restore I get a message 'Device driver 'PCI VEN8086&DEV2829$SUBSYS20A717AA&REV03' for Microsoft XP Home Edition can not be found.
What kind of driver is it looking for? I've been to the Lenovo website for the driver support and I have downloaded lots of files but these files are executables. I run them and they extract a bunch of files but I haven't found the one that Acronis is looking for. I have noticed that in the extracted files there are some setup exes.
I tried to run these but I get a message that the system I'm on is not at the right level. So these exes seem to be useless. I've googled the driver and I got lots of hits, but every page that I go to has a download button but it's always for some other crap and not the driver. Where can I find this driver? Thanks for any help!
'PCI VEN8086&DEV2829$SUBSYS20A717AA&REV03' is the Intel ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller in your target system. You need to download the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager driver from here You need the file 'f6flpy3289.zip'. You also will need to extract the files contained in the zip file into a folder that is accessible to Acronis Universal Restore during the restore process. I normally create a folder called 'drivers' on the same drive that the backup files are located on, and copy the driver files into it.
You would then tell Universal Restore to look in the 'drivers' folder for the new driver files to be added to the restored OS. See this KB article about UR in 2012 (It still is valid for 2013) http://kb.acronis.com/content/23561.
